This unit covers Regression Analysis in AP® Statistics and is fully aligned to the 2026–27 AP® Statistics CED. Students begin by exploring scatterplots, correlation, and the form, direction, strength, and unusual features of linear relationships. They then develop and interpret least-squares regression lines, use regression models to make predictions, and analyze residuals to evaluate model fit.

Throughout the unit, students investigate the meaning of slope, y-intercept, and the correlation coefficient in context while learning the difference between association and causation. They also identify influential observations, interpret residual plots, and assess the appropriateness of linear models. By the end of the unit, students are prepared to confidently analyze, interpret, and communicate conclusions about relationships between two quantitative variables.
