Coding Projects with Recursion

The material covered in these projects aligns with Unit 10 of the AP® CSA CED. These projects ask students to code in the Java programming language.

All projects come with both the editable WORD document, the PDF version, as well as an answer key. You will have the ability to change directions or edit anything to fit your own classroom needs.

Recursive Converter Project – Students are asked to make a program that will recursively convert a base-10 number into binary and hexadecimal and also convert a binary or hexadecimal number in a base-10 number.

Convergent Series Project – Students are asked to use recursive methods to find the partial sum of a convergent series. They are then asked to investigate what the series appears to converge to. This project ties in with AP Calc BC, but students do not need to have seen calculus to do the project.

Loops and Recursion Project – Students are asked to code two static methods using loops and then code two static methods using recursion that give the same output.
