Projects and Activities

Welcome! There are 7 activities/projects in this resource. All of the resources are 100% editable, to modify to fit your classroom needs. The zip folder includes the Word (or PowerPoint) document. The PDF versions are included for your convenience and answer keys and rubrics are included where appropriate.

Here is a brief description of what is included:

• Ethics in Experiments Lesson – This is an additional lesson you can use to teach what ethical considerations need to occur when conducting an experiment. The second half of the lesson discusses 5 of the most famous unethical experiments in psychology.

• Can You Taste a Difference Activity – Students compare the name-brand chocolate candies with the generic candies to see if they can taste a difference while practicing setting up a controlled experiment.

• Show Me the Money Activity – Students are introduced to the idea of random sampling by using the top-grossing movies of 2019.

• Rolling Down the River Activity – Students practice convenience sampling, simple random sampling, and stratified sampling methods in this classic river activity.

• Sample Survey Project – Students design and carry out a sample survey that is both biased and unbiased and compare the results.

• Designing an Experiment Project – Students design, carry out, and report an experiment of their choice.

• Pumpkin Picking Sampling Activity – Students will practice and compare different types of random sampling methods to see which would be the best, depending on the situation.
