AP® Statistics Unit 7 – Inference for Quantitative Data: Means

Projects and Activities

Welcome! There are 6 activities/projects in this resource. All of the resources are 100% editable, to modify to fit your classroom needs. The zip folder includes the Word (or PowerPoint) document. The PDF versions are included for your convenience and answer keys and rubrics are included where appropriate.

Here is a brief description of what is included:

Testing a Claimed Mean Activity

Students will use fun size bags of M&Ms to test the claim that all fun size bags will contain a certain about of M&M candies.

Creating a Confidence Interval with the Presidents

Students will practice creating a confidence interval by collecting data on the number of U.S. presidents they can recall in one minute, and subsequently creating a One Sample T Interval and a One Proportion Z Interval to interpret and analyze the collected data.

Taste Test Comparison Project

In this project, students will collect data and perform two inference procedures: a matched pairs t-test and a matched pairs t-interval. Students will analyze the results they get and answer questions on the findings.

Walk it Out

An introduction to confidence intervals for means, this activity has students gather data on how far they can walk on a line while blindfolded.

IQ Activity

Students compare their class's mean IQ score with that of another class. This activity is for comparing means.

Hypothesis Testing Project

Students will choose/make a claim and then set up an experiment or a survey to test their hypothesis.
