AP® Statistics Unit 8 – Inference for Categorical Data: Chi-Square

Projects and Activities

Welcome! There are 4 activities/projects in this resource. All of the resources are 100% editable, to modify to fit your classroom needs. The zip folder includes the Word (or PowerPoint) document. The PDF versions are included for your convenience and answer keys and rubrics are included where appropriate.

Here is a brief description of what is included:

Distribution of Colors – Students will use a fun-size bag of M&Ms to perform a chi-square goodness of fit test.

Mad Libs Activity – Students practice chi-square multiple-choice problems using a mad libs game that gets them up and moving!

Unit 8 Circuit – Students practice a chi-square GOF test and a chi-square test for homogeneity in a classic circuit-style worksheet

Unit 8 Project: Chi-Square Survey Analysis – In this project, students will be conducting a survey to see if the distribution of a categorical variable is the same across different populations OR if there is an association between two categorical variables of their choice.
